FAQ

Q. What is a zine?
A zine (short for fanzine) is a non-official publication of art, writing, and any other artistic mediums organized into a book and/or digital collection (PDF).
Q. What is Richmond on Three! ?
Richmond on Three is a charity zine dedicated to the platonic relationships within the fictional AFC Richmond from the Ted Lasso universe! The goal is a physical print + merch run of the zine, but will be determined from the results of the interest check.
Q. What content is allowed?
Any art or fiction that is canon compliant or canon adjacent is allowed as long as it is rated PG-13 or lower. Angst, hurt/comfort, and canon-typical sports-related violence and injuries will be allowed, as long as they fit into the PG-13 rating. Though the zine is platonic, background/implied ships are allowed.
Q. What charity are you planning to support?
All zine profits, after production costs, will be going to a charity that will be voted on by all contributors!
Q. What are the zine specs/format?
The zine will be A5 format, full color.
Q. Who can apply?
You must be 16 or above by the end submission date to participate in this zine.
No zine experience is necessary for your application to be considered, as the team will be judging the individual strengths of each portfolio.
Q. How will contributors be compensated?
All contributors will receive, at minimum, a free PDF copy of the zine and all digital merch, and if we do a physical run will at least have the opportunity to purchase a physical version of the zines/merch at production cost with shipping!
Q. How do I buy the zine?
The zine will be available for purchase through BigCartel or a similar storefront once pre-orders come around.
Q. Can I share my piece while I’m working on it?
The team respectfully asks that all previews and snippets of contributor work be kept a secret until we are ready to share previews. This means that you cannot work on your piece while streaming in any capacity. Once mods give the okay to share previews, we ask that no more than 30% of the piece is shared for artists, and no more than 250 words for writers. Mods will provide a standardized preview template once that time comes.
Q. Can I share/sell my finished piece?
We ask that fully finished pieces not be posted until the zine has been distributed to all pre-order buyers. However, once all potential leftover sales have concluded, contributors can do whatever they’d like with their piece, including putting it up for purchase in their own personal shops!
Q. I have a question not answered in this FAQ.
If there are other questions you’d like the team to answer, feel free to shoot us an ask on Tumblr, dm on Instagram/Twitter, or ask anonymously through our Retrospring account.

Submission Guidelines

General Guidelines
- Applicants must be 16+ to participate. If the mods discover later on that an applicant is under the age of 16, they will be removed from the zine.
- All work submitted to the zine must be a new work created explicitly for the project. No previously created work will be accepted.
- Your work must be AFC Richmond focused, SFW, and featuring platonic relationships. Background/implied ships are allowed, however, we ask that you do not make these the central theme of your piece!
- Your piece must not contain any sort of hate speech/propaganda/bigotry/character bashing. Passing mentions that acknowledge the negative impacts of these are permitted.
- It is expected that you join the discord server, so that the mods can contact you and you can receive updates.
- Canon and canon-adjacent work is encouraged. If you'd like to create a work in an alternate universe, it will need to be approved by the moderator team.
Page Artist Guidelines
- Follow the provided A5 template, found in the discord.
- Must be recognizable as a finished piece. You may use a non-intrusive watermark or signature.
- We will not accept traced art of any object NOT free to use or in public domain. If you are doing classical redraws/using personal photos this is fine. This is a copyright clause - if there's uncertainty, don't proceed.
Writer Guidelines
- Max 3k word or google doc. Endnotes and translations are counted in this. You have a 5% margin (making your final word count 3.1k max).
- Must be a polished, standalone piece of writing.
- Must have been beta-read or edited for both SPAG and coherence (fics). Beta-readers must be other participants in the project. The mods will also be available to help.
- We will only format for paragraphs, bold, and italics. Any unusual formatting will be disregarded.
Merch Artist Guidelines
- General and some page artist guidelines apply. Please communicate with the moderators to narrow down your merch idea and align it with the feasible products planned by our zine's financial ability.
